CONGRATS!! You’re engaged! What?!? That means it’s time to start planning one of the best times of your life! THE WEDDIING. But wait… it’s time for the engagement session first! Oh, but wait again!!… What will you wear for your engagement session?!? Do not stress… I got you!
You want to create your outfits based on your style you want to achieve in your photos. There are three decisions to make when picking out your style: Neutral or Bold, Dressy or Casual, and Classic or Trendy. NOTE THIS: You can bring more than one outfit, and the second outfit can be a different style! You can do one outfit dressy and one outfit casual, one outfit neutral and one outfit bold, or any combination you wish! That’s the beauty of YOUR day!
ENGAGEMENT SESSION OUTFIT STYLES:
Through my experience, I have learned some “things to avoid” for your engagement photos to make them look THE BEST!
- Colors to avoid: bright reds, neons, and bright oranges – Colors like these reflect color onto the skin and can be difficult to edit! I recommend choosing colors like neutrals, jewel tones, soft, muted colors, and soft pastels.
- Avoid patterns smaller than a quarter: Small patterns cause “Chromatic Aberration”, which is a color distortion that creates an outline of unwanted color along the edges of objects in a photograph.
- Alternate Heaviness: If one of you is wearing very dark pants, the other may want to wear lighter pants. If one of you is wearing a navy top, the other shouldn’t wear a dark colored top. Alternating the heaviness of your outfits can make your images look more balanced!
- Avoid wearing different styles with your partner: If one of you is dressed up and the other is casual, it can look a bit awkward and unbalanced in your photos. When choosing a style from above, choose the same style for both you and your partner.
- Other things to avoid: Tennis shoes, graphic tees, bold logos on shirts, sunglasses, and hats!
