Choosing A Wedding Venue

October 27, 2022

Wedding Tips

Booking a venue for your wedding can be one of the hardest parts of the wedding planning process. Once you decide on the style of wedding you are wanting to have or if you have a dream wedding venue already picked out, there are many other factors to consider when choosing a venue. In this blog, I will be sharing some questions you should be asking yourself, and your partner, about your venue!

LOCATION

Where is the venue located? What season is your wedding in? Will the venue work with the appropriate season? How many guests are traveling? Will guests need to stay overnight? Are you having a destination wedding? Do you want an outside ceremony and inside reception? Do you want the ceremony and reception to be in a same room?

PARKING

Is there parking available at the venue? How much? If not, is there a near-by parking lot or field you can use? Will guests have to carpool? Are you offering valet? Is Uber and Lyft easily accessible from your event location? If it rains, how muddy will it get? Will guests be able to get in and out smoothly?

FLOOR PLAN

How many reception tables fit inside your venue? Do you have any standing décor? How will it look? Is there a dance floor and DJ? Do you have a buffet? Gift table?

CAPACITY

How many people can you fit in the venue? What is the capacity number? Is there a minimum number of guests you must have?

AMENITIES

Does the venue offer set up and clean up? Do they offer AV capabilities? Is there a kitchen or catering tables? Do they have tables, chairs, and linens? Do they offer bridal and groom suites? What other rooms do they offer?

CONTRACT TERMS OF CONDITIONS

What’s your date and time frame on the contract? What rooms do you have access to? Do you have a wedding planner or coordinator? What time will they be allowed in the building? What amenities will be provided? Is there proof of insurance and liquor license? Is there negotiation for cancellation and refunding?

INSURANCE

Be sure to double check everyone is protected on both ends!

I know that was A LOT of questions, did your venue pass the test? Whoop Whoop!!

A couple of things before I go… Be sure to talk with your wedding planner! They are the BEST resource when it comes to choosing a venue! And second… Do not get blinded by catering to your guests… This is YOUR DAY. Make it YOUR DAY.
