Ah, spring is finally here. The days are longer, the light stays for those perfect sunset photos, and the colors are officially back. Everything feels a little more alive, and the calendar starts to fill quickly. I truly think it’s one of the best seasons to create and find inspiration in the wedding industry.

Over the years, I’ve captured many spring weddings, and there are certain details, moments, and choices that stand out every single time. Not because they’re trendy, but because they create an experience that feels effortless, elevated, and true to the couple’s day.

So if you’re planning a spring wedding, here are a few of my favorite things to see, and why they matter more than you might think!

Outdoor Ceremonies

Everyone loves an outdoor ceremony when the weather permits. Some of the most timeless ceremony photos I’ve captured have come from settings like this. All the florals, natural greens, and sky blue photos make for the perfect setting. The colors are in their truest form, and the environment adds depth without distraction. It all creates a backdrop that feels intentional without being overdesigned. You don’t need a lot, and oftentimes it allows you to stay present.

Spring Color Palettes

Spring is a season I often see color palettes soften and couples optimize the natural color surrounding their wedding day. The weddings that photograph most beautifully this time of year are the ones that lean into that. Palettes that feel refined, intentional, and effortless rather than overwhelming.

Think soft blush, cream, and warm neutrals. Sage green, dusty blue, and muted pastels layered with just enough texture. These tones always catch light in a way that keeps everything feeling cohesive and true to the moment.

It’s not necessarily about playing it safe with your colors. It’s about choosing colors that feel like you and, if they can, work with the season. That’s where your wedding and your photos feel naturally elevated!

Natural Florals

Spring florals are in their best form and exactly where they are supposed to be this time of year! Lean into not overstyling your floral arrangements. The florals that add dimension are those with their naturally designed movement. The kind of designs that feel like they naturally belong in the space, rather than something placed just to be seen. Looser arrangements. Organic shapes. Florals that feel effortless instead of overly structured.

From my perspective, this is what creates depth without distraction. It adds texture in a way that still keeps the focus where it should be on you, and how the day actually felt!

Details That Move

Think veils that catch in the wind, dresses flowing on the greenest grass, outdoor cocktail linens that catch the breeze. It is all so dreamy and creates photos that feels dynamic and not static.

Spring naturally brings movement. And when your details reflect that, your photos feel more alive.

Two Words: Golden Hour

I will always recommend carving out time for this part of the day, even if it’s just 10–15 minutes. This time gives you a chance to step away, breathe, and be together. Most of those moments almost always turn into some of the most meaningful photos in your gallery. And it is a plus that it falls in some of the most beautiful lighting.

Lucky for spring couples, this lighting now lasts a little longer, too. It’s softer. Less intense. A little more understated. Perfect for those sunset portraits you’ve saved on your Pinterest board!

A Final Thought

If you’re planning a spring wedding, let it be simple in the ways that matter the most to you as a couple. Not by doing less for the sake of it, but by being intentional with what you choose to focus on. Choose details that feel like you. Trust the people you’ve invited in to bring it all together. And give yourself the space to actually be present in it.

The day always goes by much quicker than you think!
