Oh, how I love April weddings and all that they encompass. A fresh start to wedding season.
The beginning of wedding season always carries a different kind of energy. Everyone is excited again. Venues are full every weekend. Florists are bringing spring color back in. The weather keeps everyone guessing. Somehow it all feels a little emotional after a slower winter season.
I always notice it during those first few weddings back. The early mornings. The garment bags hanging everywhere. Coffee in the bridal suite while hair and makeup starts. Everyone counting on warm weather while checking the forecast every hour.
Filled with lighter days and softer colors, people linger outside after ceremonies and bring an ambiance to the day that feels different this time of year. There’s more movement, everyone feels alive, and I think that’s why I love photographing this season so much. The warmer weather brings longer days, and with that comes a natural cadence of joy that feels different from winter weddings.
It feels emotional without trying too hard. Some of my favorite moments this month weren’t even planned. Like a bride laughing in the middle of portraits because the wind would not leave her veil alone, or a groomsman out fishing by the pond at the venue the morning of. Those little in-between moments always end up meaning the most.
I think people sometimes expect wedding photography to only focus on the polished parts of the day. But the photos couples hold onto forever are usually the ones that felt real.
April wedding season always reminds me why I love this job.
Every weekend looks different. Every couple brings something completely their own to the day. And somehow, I still leave weddings feeling inspired by people choosing each other in front of everyone they love.
I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving the start of wedding season in April and all that it entails.

One of the biggest questions I get asked is: Is there a best time to have a wedding? According to Google, there is! Google would say June, September, and October are the best months to plan a wedding, with June being the most popular because of the weather. But I say… The best time to […]
